Generative AI Use Cases for Engineers

This presentation will explore the intersection of engineering and generative AI. It will include 10 use cases that anyone can try to better understand the benefits of generative AI. Several complex use cases will be examined including an engineering knowledge assistant formally deploayed by Massachusetts DOT. Finally, the presentation will explore use case on the horizon including leveraging AI for quality control and creation of initial engineering work product.

Central Signals Control System (CSCS)

The project installed cellular modems at over 1000 state owned signals bringing them online and connected to the Statewide management software. Each signal had its current timings evaluated, brought up to current standard, and was graphically verified within the software system. The software system, called Centracs, can view an control each of the signal’s timings allowing for construction timing deployments and corridor coordination.
